Pomini Tenova, a global provider of rolling mill equipment and services, has signed a contract with Gazi Metal for the supply of a new generation foundationless grinding machine for process rolls at its cold rolling facility in Karasu.
The new investment is expected to increase the plant’s rolling mill capacity while also improving operational efficiency.
The system is described as a highly precise and digitally advanced technology designed for modern rolling mill operations. Its foundationless design enables faster installation, reduces infrastructure requirements, allows flexible integration into existing plant layouts, lowers construction work and costs, shortens site preparation time, and contributes to increased production capacity.
Delivery is scheduled for early 2027, with commissioning planned shortly thereafter.
Gazi Metal CEO Mustafa Gazioğlu stated that the project further strengthens the long-standing cooperation with Pomini Tenova. He noted that the company had also been the preferred solution partner during the installation of Gazi Metal’s first cold rolling facility, adding that satisfaction with Pomini Combi grinding systems and mill-integrated data communication systems played a key role in this new investment decision.
During the visit, the AI-powered PDSA (Pomini Digital Surface Analysis) technology for detecting surface defects was also introduced. The system is designed to identify micro-level surface defects that are typically detectable only by experienced operators, and is expected to further enhance quality control processes. Gazi Metal is reportedly evaluating the potential implementation of this technology.
Pomini Tenova Sales Area Manager Petar Rokić stated that the collaboration with Gazi Metal demonstrates both the reliability of the technology and the strength of the partnership in the Turkish steel industry, expressing satisfaction with the continuation of the long-standing cooperation.
