Producers in France, Italy and Spain say that if they are not to idle their plants in July, they will have to buy material and prices cannot decrease further. All European countries are reported to be experiencing extreme shortages of 304 and 316, with sellers struggling to source material. Prices are decreasing in Italy, France, Belgium and Germany compared to May.
Local 304 grade prices are hovering around €1,200/t delivered for 304 blended with a less pure grade. Small tonnage contracts for 316, which has not seen much demand this month, are said to average €2,300-2,350/t.
