Electric arc furnace (EAF) manufacturers in China are facing further pressure on steel production due to higher production costs caused by rising steel scrap prices.
Limited scrap availability has been observed in recent days as cold weather has slowed scrap collection and processing activities.
Continuing heavy snowfall in northern China is causing transportation disruptions, and temporary COVID control measures in some areas have led to an increase in scrap prices.
Accordingly, the increase in production costs and the weakening demand increase the losses of electric arc furnace manufacturers.
