Czech steel mill Třinecké železárne to invest $63.2 million for sustainable steel production

Sources told SteelRadar that TŽ is investing $63.2 million for sustainable steel production and will start construction of a new electric arc furnace.

The new electric arc furnace is expected to replace half of the existing blast furnaces and capacities and is expected to be completed by 2030. Another important investment to be made by the company is the modernisation of blast furnace No. 4, which is expected to emit approximately 19 thousand tonnes less carbon per year and contribute to electricity savings.

In 2024, it was reported that the production of Třinec rails will be improved and the estimated cost will be $ 38 million. In addition, the establishment of an iron ore briquetting line, where carbon emissions will be reduced to 70 thousand tonnes per year, is among the future plans.

Třinecké železárne reported that by 2024, they aim to produce less carbon in their facilities and support sustainable living by supporting green steel.
