CSC expands overseas investment in hot briquetted iron.

China Steel Corporation (CSC) said that in response to the future low-carbon and net-zero trend, the company will expand overseas investment. The chairman of CSC said that hot briquette iron (HBI) and hydrogen are the two strategic materials for the future steel industry. In addition to cooperating with large Japanese trading companies, CSC will obtain the right to take delivery of HBI in Oman by the end of this year and does not rule out the construction of a smelter.

The Middle East, Australia, Malaysia, and other countries that have key resources such as minerals and hydrogen are priority locations for CSC to evaluate. Besides, CSC's development of carbon capture technology requires a site for storage in the future. However, because Taiwan is located in an earthquake zone, CSC needs to find a suitable site in other countries that can meet future carbon storage demand.
