Türkiye Climate Change Presidency has published the 2025 Administrative Activity Report

In the report prepared under the Republic of Turkiye Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, evaluations regarding activities carried out throughout 2025, budget and performance results, and institutional capacity were presented to the public.

The report, prepared within the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, presents evaluations regarding the activities carried out throughout 2025, budget and performance results, and institutional capacity to the public. The report includes the organizational structure, human and physical resources, services provided, duties and powers, and financial implementation results; the projects and legislative studies carried out by the Presidency during the year were also detailed.

According to the report, while the Climate Law entered into force, it was announced that Türkiye has undertaken the presidency and hosting of COP31 to be organized under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Additionally, the Second Nationally Determined Contribution, which foresees an emission reduction of 466 million tons by 2035 compared to the reference scenario, was announced; it was noted that national mitigation and adaptation strategies will be updated within this framework. The report shared information that the Turkish Emission Trading System will be established, the revenues obtained will be used for the green transformation of the industry, the Carbon Crediting and Offsetting System will be implemented, and the Turkish Green Taxonomy regulation will be prepared.

Additionally, it was reported that technologies within the scope of Net Zero Emissions will be researched and studies will be conducted with international organizations, and the Emission Reduction Technologies Initiative Inventory studies will be completed. In order to increase the awareness of industrialists on green transformation, greenhouse gas emission monitoring, and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), information and consultation meetings were held in 20 provinces; it was stated that these will continue in other provinces in the future.

Authorities stated that the steps in question will be implemented in line with Türkiye’s low-carbon development goals.
