Some Chinese coke chemical companies, which are trying to increase their coke prices, aim to reduce their production by 30%. This decision was also discussed at the China Coke Industry Association.
The plants decided to extend their coking time to reduce production costs and purchases of expensive coking coal. The priority of enterprises will be customers who agree to increase the coke price.
Shanxi Coking Coal Group in Shanxi province announced that it will raise its coke prices. Shanxi Coking is expected to grow further with the rising production volume in the steel industry.
According to market data, in December 2022, Chinese coke production increased by 8.3% on a yearly basis and by 4.3% on a monthly basis.
The Chinese government announced that after April 1, 2023, the import duty rate will be 6% for motor coal and 3% for hard coal, and that there will be no import duty for coke.
