According to data announced by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, the export volume of finished steel products in September 2023 was 8 million tons. This figure was recorded as 61% more than the same month of 2022.
China-based companies shipped 66 million tons of rolled steel and pipes abroad in the first nine months of 2023. In addition, the country's exports of semi-finished steel products exceeded the level of 2.3 million tons.
China's steel imports were recorded at approximately 650 thousand tons in September 2023. In the first nine months of 2023, China-based companies purchased 5.70 million tons of finished steel products from abroad. The country's semi-finished product imports were recorded as 1.48 million tons in the January-August period of 2023.
