According to the General Customs Administration of the PRC, in July 2023, China purchased 136 thousand tons of semi-finished and finished stainless steel products from abroad. Although this is 15% higher than in June 2023, it is 23% behind the same month of the previous year.
In the first seven months of 2023, stainless steel imports in China decreased by 47% compared to the same period of 2022 and decreased to 979 thousand tons. About 750 thousand tons of this came from Indonesia. Purchases in this direction decreased by 51.9% compared to January-July 2022.
In July 2023, Chinese companies exported 359 thousand tons of stainless steel, down 13% compared to 2022.
