According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China’s iron ore imports totaled around 86.1 million tons in April this year, down by 1.4% compared to the previous month and also dropping by 12.7% from the same month a year ago.
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$11.6 billion, a month-on-month increase of nearly 7% and a year-on-year drop of 28.6%.
In the first four months of this year, China imported a total of 350 million tons of iron ore, sliding by 7.1% year on year. The import value was roughly US$41.9 billion, falling by 33.2% from the corresponding period a year earlier.
