Centravis plans to increase production at its new plant in western Ukraine

Centravis, a manufacturer of stainless pipes in Ukraine, plans to increase production at its new plant in Uzhgorod, in western Ukraine.

Centravis plans to increase production at its new plant in western Ukraine

In total, more than UAH 50 million ($1.4 million) was invested in the construction of the plant in Transcarpathia, where around 100 workers are employed.

Immediately after the launch, studies to increase production started. According to the company, the second phase of construction will be completed this summer.

Centravis general manager Yury Atanasov said that they had long considered the idea of a new factory, but that this process of war was the driving force and they quickly moved from design to action.

Atanasov noted that Uzhgorod was chosen because of its proximity to Ukraine's western border, which will allow orders to be delivered to customers faster.

"We are already planning the third phase and we want Uzhhorod to be known as one of the world centers for the production of pipes for cars," says Serhiy Shadskyi, head of the new plant.

Since starting production in February, the new Centravis plant in Uzhgorod has won its first contracts for pipe production.

The new production will depend on the hot Nikopol plants, which will initially provide round billet raw material. It is also planned to cooperate with European and Indian pipe billet suppliers in the future. Between January and November 2022, Centravis' production fell 34% year-over-year to 10,600 tons. Due to the ongoing Russian occupation, Ukrainian pipe manufacturers have reduced production to 608,000 tons in 2022. Pipe mills in Ukraine reduced exports by 33.6 percent to 400,400 tons in 2022. The volume shipped abroad in January 2023 totaled 20,780 tons, down 58.6% year-on-year.
