Global mining company BHP Group has signed an agreement with China's HBIS Group for the pilot implementation of its carbon capture, utilization and storage technology.
BHP Group said in a statement that HBIS will offer pilot testing options for carbon capture and utilization technology in its steel operations in China. The goal of the trial will be to develop technologies that can be integrated into the steelmaking process to produce HBIS's saleable products and decrease carbon dioxide emissions. It will be financed with an investment of up to $15 million over three years.
This collaboration between BHP and HLIS, a world leader in the steel industry and a major buyer of our iron ore, will set a strong example for the industry.
