According to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), Türkiye’s passenger car and light commercial vehicle market decreased by 1% year-on-year in April 2026 to 104,298 units. It was notable that the total market remained above 100,000 units in April following March.
In April, passenger car sales declined by 6.12% year-on-year to 80,182 units, while light commercial vehicle sales increased by 20.94% to 24,116 units. Thus, while the passenger car market contracted, the light commercial vehicle segment recorded strong growth.
Compared to the 10-year average April sales, the market increased by 51.2%. During the same period, the passenger car market was 47.6% above the average, while the light commercial vehicle market was 64.3% above the average.
Looking at the first four months of the year, the total automotive market contracted by 3.13% year-on-year to 369,696 units. During this period, passenger car sales declined by 5.93% to 290,870 units, while the light commercial vehicle market increased by 8.83% to 78,826 units.
By body type, SUV models ranked first with 58,032 units and a 20% market share. Sedan cars ranked second with 45,669 units and a 15.7% share, followed by hatchback models.
In terms of fuel type, gasoline-powered cars accounted for 122,808 units with a 42.2% share, while hybrid vehicles reached 94,441 units with a 32.5% share. Electric vehicle sales rose to 54,892 units with an 18.9% share, while diesel vehicles accounted for 17,398 units with a 6% share and LPG-powered vehicles reached 1,331 units with a 0.5% share.
