ArcelorMittal Germany appointed Rainer Böse as new CEO

Rainer Böse, who has worked at ArcelorMittal for many years, has been appointed as the new CEO of ArcelorMittal Germany. He will perform this role in addition to his responsibilities as chairman of the management at the Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt plants.

ArcelorMittal Germany appointed Rainer Böse as new CEO

On his new role, Rainer Böse stated: “We have strong and qualified teams at our sites in Germany. I know what we can achieve together when we pull in the same direction. This is how we will overcome the challenges ahead.”

Demand for European steel products has been weak for a long time, and this situation is further aggravated by high imports and unfair competition. Equal conditions with non-European countries still do not exist regarding energy and CO₂ costs. The loopholes in the planned carbon border adjustment for steel with higher CO₂ emissions must be closed urgently. In addition, it is now more important than ever to set a competitive industrial electricity price and to implement effective trade protection measures in Europe.

Calling on policymakers to act immediately, Böse emphasized: “It is no longer five minutes to twelve, it is already past twelve! Only if the framework conditions allow can we invest in the next steps toward climate-neutral steel production.”

The 57-year-old Böse has held various positions at ArcelorMittal over the years. From 2017 until May 2025, he served as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for the industrial customer segment of ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products in Northern Europe, before being appointed chairman of the management at the Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt plants.
