At the opening of the Akçakoca Iron and Steel Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (OSB), Düzce Governor Selçuk Aslan emphasized that they were reaping the rewards of 12 years of effort, saying:
“We have shaped over 30 industrial parcels across a 66-hectare area. Our goal is to complete the infrastructure and parcel work this year, and begin seeing factories rise next year. We believe Akçakoca will become a center that specializes in iron and steel and provides high added value to our country. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the establishment and development of the Akçakoca Iron and Steel Specialized OSB, which will add value to Akçakoca, support the employment of many people, and serve the prosperity of our nation. I hope it will be beneficial for our homeland.”
"Akçakoca will be a city of both industry and tourism"
Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü highlighted the importance of planned industrialization, stating:
“While preparing the environmental plan, we envision Akçakoca as both a tourism and an industrial city. I have always opposed the establishment of OSBs on agricultural land, and during my time as minister, I never signed the establishment of an OSB on farmland. OSBs are the cornerstones of planned industry, and Türkiye is very successful in this regard. During my time at the ministry, I signed off on the establishment of many OSBs, but one of the decisions I was happiest to make was the founding of Akçakoca OSB. Today, I am once again very happy. May it be beneficial to our city. My wish is for all five OSBs in Düzce to become 'green OSBs'.”
"The first key to a dream"
Düzce MP Ayşe Keşir said:
“We are realizing another dream in Akçakoca. We are here to unlock the first key of a dream that has taken over 10 years of effort. Minister Faruk Özlü’s signature is the foundation of this project.”
