Airbus to double manufacturing capacity in China

With Macron's visit to China, important agreements were signed between France and China on the Civil Aviation sector. European-based Airbus will double its production capacity by adding a new assembly unit to its production line in Tienjin, China.

The Beijing administration, on the other hand, approved the purchase of 160 passenger aircraft from Airbus by Chinese companies. Within the scope of the agreement, 150 "A320" type and 10 "A350-900" type passenger aircraft are expected to be delivered to Chinese airlines.

The agreements were announced by Airbus Chief Executive Guillaume Faury, who was in the business delegation that attended Macron's visit.

"Expanding production is of great importance to us. The Chinese market is growing steadily. We will have the opportunity to supply more products to both domestic airlines and other customers in the region," said Faury. said.

The move of European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is expected to give the company a competitive advantage in the Chinese market at a time when its US rival Boeing is affected by rising tensions in Washington's relations with Beijing.

The production facility Airbus calls the "Asian Final Assembly Line" (FALA) in Tiencin began operating in 2008. In addition to the narrow-body, medium-haul passenger aircraft family A320s, the wide-body A350 passenger planes are produced at the facility.

China's "big three" state-owned airlines AirChina, China Southern and China Eastern committed to purchase a total of 292 aircraft from Airbus last year. The agreement reached during Macron's visit includes some of the orders within this scope.
