Agreement with Azerbaijan for additional natural gas

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Dönmez announced that an additional 11 billion cubic meters of natural gas agreement was signed with Azerbaijan, valid until the end of 2024.

Agreement with Azerbaijan for additional natural gas

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez stated that the ongoing negotiations to meet the natural gas demand, which is likely to increase as winter approaches, said, "In this context, 11 billion cubic meters of additional natural gas trade with Azerbaijan will be valid until the end of 2024 and will come from the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Line. agreement has been made." said.

"Turkish Petroleum and BOTAŞ will not be sold"

In his written statement, Minister Dönmez stated that the claims that Turkish Petroleum and BOTAŞ will be sold are "baseless and untrue" and said, "There is absolutely no question of selling either Turkish Petroleum or BOTAŞ. There has never been such an agenda. Both Turkish Petroleum and BOTAŞ BOTAŞ plays a key role in Turkey's energy supply security today." made its assessment.

Reminding that Turkish Petroleum purchased a field in Russia for the first time in its history and increased its shares in Azerbaijan, Dönmez continued as follows:

"The aforementioned international projects have come to life in recent years. It was the AK Party government that started a new era in our energy history with the discovery of the Black Sea, with the ships Fatih, Yavuz and Kanuni, in our 50 years of deep-sea drilling. The 540 billion cubic meters of exploration in the Black Sea made it possible for Turkish Petroleum to benefit from both technology and financing. It also revealed how it successfully carried out such large operations in terms of human resources."

Dönmez stated that BOTAŞ has been among the architects of projects such as TANAP and TurkStream in the last 3 years, and that the company has assumed a vital role for Turkey.

Natural gas purchase claim for 1300 dollars

Noting that there is a claim that BOTAŞ has purchased natural gas for over $1300, Dönmez said that a significant portion of the gas was procured through long-term contracts. Dönmez emphasized that the prices in long-term contracts are in line with the current indicators in the international market and are below the mentioned level.
