Billet prices in Tangshan, in northern China's Hebei province, decreased on April 3-9 as the continued decrease in finished steel product prices dampened market sentiment, according to sources.

As of April 9, the Q235 billet price assessment in Tangshan decreased significantly by Yuan 100/tonne ($14.5/t) week to Yuan 3,800/t (551,7$) EXW, including 13% VAT.

As of April 7, the ten integrated mills in Tangshan lost an average of RMB 52/tonne (7,55$) in billet sales, and the average cost incurred by these mills in producing these semis was 2 Yuan/tonne (0,29$) compared to the previous week. In the 30 March-5 April period, prices decreased by 50 Yuan/ton (7,26$) per week to 3,852 Yuan/ton (559,34$).

As of April 5, total billet stocks among 55 rerolling mills in Tangshan decreased by 31,700 tons (7%) w-o-w to 419,600 tons, while from March 30 to April 5 the billet consumption of the rerolling mills averaged 71,400 tons.
