Acciaierie Bertoli Safau (ABS), the steelmaking division of the Danieli Group, has acquired Rott-Ferr, a company specialised in scrap collection services near Udine, with the aim of expanding the company's business to include the collection of raw materials and to strengthen a full circular production cycle.
Rott-Ferr has been co-operating with ABS for a long time. This scrap recovery company has been operating in the sector for more than twenty years and collects around 100,000 tonnes of scrap per year.
According to ABS, the decision may have been taken in response to the expected reduction in scrap supply in Europe as steel mills shift from blast furnace-based production to electric arc furnace-based production.
