The meeting was attended by Deputy Director General of Exports Tayfun Kılıç and Head of the Department of Mining, Metal and Forest Products Ali Rıza Oktay, as well as KTSO Chairman of the Board Fatih Çapraz, Karabük Private Sector Iron and Steel Rolling Mills Association Chairman Pehlivan Baylan, sector representatives, and businesspeople.Experts from the Ministry of Trade, Uğur Yalçın and Mehmet Güneş, along with Uygar Tatar, Oğuzhan İnci, and Yiğit Can Kurtkaya from the Turkish Steel Exporters’ Association, also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the challenges faced by rolling mills operating in the iron and steel sector regarding raw material supply and production planning were discussed in detail. While solution proposals aimed at enhancing the sector’s sustainability and competitiveness were evaluated, the Ministry delegation stated that the requests received from companies would be monitored in coordination with the relevant departments.
Following the consultations, the delegation visited the Işık Çelik Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş. factory located in the Karabük Organized Industrial Zone, where they received information about production processes and capacity. The company’s Chairman of the Board, Pehlivan Baylan, provided the delegation with detailed insights into the machinery park and production line.The delegation then proceeded to Serhat Demir Çelik A.Ş., where they were welcomed by company representative Gökalp Büyükbektaş and briefed on the activities carried out at the facility.
Evaluating the program, KTSO Chairman of the Board Fatih Çapraz stated that the visit of the Ministry of Trade delegation to Karabük was significant in terms of listening to the sector and contributing to solution-oriented processes. Çapraz emphasized that cooperation aimed at resolving the issues faced by the iron and steel sector would continue.
