Karsan won the 100 percent electric public transportation tenders opened by the Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration.
While signatures were signed for the export of the public transportation system worth 35 million Euros in two separate ceremonies, Karsan won both tenders with its 100 percent electric 18-meter-long bus.
Within the scope of the tender, a total of 56 electric buses will be delivered, 44 of which are to the Municipality of Timișoara and 12 to the Municipality of Braşov.
Karsan will also establish 75 charging stations, 19 of which are fast charging, in Romania, and will provide a comprehensive electric public transport system service by undertaking the maintenance and garage operation of the vehicles for 6 years. Karsan aims to make the first deliveries by 2022.

Providing information about the two tenders won, Karsan CEO Okan Baş said that the future of transportation is electric and driverless public transportation vehicles and that they continue their investments in this area without slowing down.

Noting that they will expand their vehicle portfolio with the new 100% electric bus models in the 12 and 18 meter class, which they will introduce very soon, Okan Baş stated that they made a very good start with the tender they won. Baş said: “These tenders worth 35 million euros do not only mean the sale of buses. As Karsan, we approach transportation as a whole. In this context, as Karsan, we will carry out a total of 75 charging stations, 19 of which are fast charging, and all maintenance operations and garage operations of the vehicles. In other words, we can call this agreement worth 35 million euros an electric public transportation system agreement. As Karsan, we are very happy to sign the biggest electric bus export agreement of the Turkish automotive industry worth 35 million euros.
