14 provinces in Türkiye exceeded the $1 billion export threshold

The Ministry of Trade announced export data by provinces for the January–March period of the year. Accordingly, during this period, exports of 14 provinces exceeded $1 billion, while export increases were recorded in 40 provinces.

In March, İstanbul was the province with the highest exports, reaching $3 billion 816 million. However, the city’s exports declined by 21.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. İstanbul was followed by Kocaeli with $3 billion 159 million and İzmir with $2 billion 8 million. Exports from Kocaeli decreased by 1.6%, while the decline in İzmir was recorded at 4.5%.

In İstanbul’s exports, the “precious or semi-precious stones” category ranked first with $488 million 493 thousand. This was followed by boilers and machinery with $432 million 341 thousand, and knitted apparel and accessories with $377 million 212 thousand.

In Kocaeli, the highest exports were recorded in motor vehicles with $1 billion 43 million 761 thousand. This sector was followed by mineral fuels and oils with $535 million 732 thousand, and electrical machinery and equipment with $229 million 548 thousand.

In İzmir, motor vehicles ranked first with $518 million 906 thousand. This category was followed by iron and steel with $226 million 82 thousand, and boilers and machinery with $170 million 193 thousand.

Looking at export destinations, Germany was İstanbul’s largest market with $324 million 596 thousand. The United States ranked second with $250 million 882 thousand, and the United Kingdom third with $150 million 799 thousand.

In Kocaeli’s exports, the United Kingdom ranked first with $268 million 54 thousand, followed by Germany with $259 million 763 thousand and Italy with $240 million 117 thousand. For İzmir, Germany was the top export destination with $182 million 906 thousand, followed by Italy and Malta.

According to the data, in the January–March period, 14 provinces achieved export performance exceeding $1 billion, while 40 provinces managed to increase their exports.
