Growth in Azerbaijan's metallurgical sector in the first five months

Azerbaijan's metallurgical industry and production of finished metal products recorded significant growth in the first five months of 2024. According to the State Statistics Committee, the value of products manufactured in these areas totalled AZN 528,3 million (about USD 310,7 million).

In January-May 2024, the volume of production in the metallurgical industry of Azerbaijan increased by 36,5%, while the production of finished metal products grew by 10.2%. Rebar production increased by 36,2% to 165,500 tonnes. Steel casting increased by 33,9% year-on-year to 150,4 thousand tonnes. Steel pipe production decreased by 58,4% to 48,4 thousand tonnes.

Azerbaijan imported 434,884.02 tonnes of ferrous steel products in January-May 2024, up 26,8% compared to the same period last year. In terms of value, the volume of imports increased by 23,9% to 490 million 390,29 thousand US dollars.

Exports of ferrous steel products decreased by 25,5% in the first five months of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 34,978.87 tonnes. Export value decreased by 26,7 % yoy to 33,471 million US dollars.
