Gong ceremony held at Borsa Istanbul for Kardemir Çelik

A gong ceremony was held at Borsa Istanbul to mark Kardemir Çelik’s public offering.

Gong ceremony held at Borsa Istanbul for Kardemir Çelik

The ceremony was attended by Kardemir Çelik Chairman of the Board Tevfik Önder Karalp, Vice Chairman Özge Yastı, Board Member Özlem Bakırel, Vakıf Yatırım General Manager Uğur Fidan, the intermediary institution for the public offering, Ziraat Yatırım General Manager Akın Demirbağ, the leader of the consortium, as well as Borsa Istanbul officials and other guests.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kardemir Çelik Chairman of the Board Tevfik Önder Karalp said the gong ceremony marked an important milestone that brought the company’s past together with its future.

Karalp noted that the vision of the company’s founder, Nevzat Karalp, had played a major role in Kardemir Çelik’s development. He stated that, following 57 years of operations and investments, Kardemir Çelik had become one of Türkiye’s leading industrial companies. Karalp added that the company is currently listed among the top 500 industrial enterprises in Türkiye and has become one of the largest industrial companies in the Aegean Region.

Stating that the company operates five auxiliary facilities and two energy facilities in İzmir and Denizli, Karalp said Kardemir Çelik continues its operations with 1,350 employees and exports to more than 100 countries. He noted that the company has established a strong brand through the production of steel sections, rebar and wire rod, as well as electricity generation from renewable energy sources.

Karalp said that the public offering had brought the company a new responsibility, emphasizing that earning the trust of investors and creating sustainable value for shareholders would be among its top priorities.

Noting that the company had implemented significant investments in recent years despite the challenging conditions during the pandemic, Karalp said these investments had enabled Kardemir Çelik to quadruple its production capacity. He added that the company aims to become a role model in production, exports, technology and corporate governance, while further strengthening its position among Türkiye’s largest industrial enterprises.

Karalp stated that the company is determined to increase its presence in international markets, develop new partnerships and establish the Kardemir Çelik brand as a stronger global player. He also said that the public offering had attracted strong investor interest.

Karalp stated that the shares offered to the public received demand equivalent to 4.28 times the offering size and that the company gained 814,853 new shareholders. He said, “This is the strongest indication of the trust we have built over the years through hard work, patience and determination. We are now a much larger family moving toward the same goal with hundreds of thousands of investors across Türkiye. I sincerely believe that, drawing strength from our past while looking toward the future, we will achieve even greater successes.”
