Global crude steel production decreased by 5.1 percent to 162.7 million tons in April compared to the same period last year, as production in China fell by more than 5 percent.
The World Steel Association (Worldsteel), headquartered in Brussels, announced crude steel production data for April.
Accordingly, global crude steel production decreased by 5.1 percent in April compared to the same period of 2021, to 162.7 million tons.
In the said period, China's production decreased by 5.2 percent to 92.8 million tons.
Japan's production decreased by 4.4 percent to 7.5 million tons, Germany's production decreased by 1.1 percent to 3.3 million tons, and the USA's production decreased by 3.9 percent to 6.9 million tons.
Turkey's crude steel production, on the other hand, increased by 1.6 percent in April compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3.4 million tons.
In the said period, it is estimated that steel production decreased by 4 percent to 2.9 million tons in Brazil, and decreased by 20.7 percent to 2.2 million tons in Iran.
Meanwhile, global crude steel production in the January-April period decreased by 7.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, to 619.1 million tons.
