Gazprom's natural gas exports fell 37% compared to last year

According to the statement made by Gazprom, the company's natural gas production in the 8 months of the year decreased by 14.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and fell to 288.1 billion cubic meters.

In the said period, the company's natural gas exports to countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) decreased by 37.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and became 82.2 billion cubic meters.

In the statement, it was pointed out that the highest level of occupancy rate in the underground natural gas storage facilities in Europe does not guarantee a reliable transition of the autumn-winter period in terms of energy security.

The European Union (EU) countries, which consume approximately 400 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, are working to fill their natural gas storages in case the natural gas flow from Russia is interrupted due to the war in Ukraine.

Mechthild Wörsdörfer, Deputy Director General of the EU Commission's energy unit, said in a statement today that natural gas storages in Europe have reached 80 percent fullness.
