Fuel prices in Lebanon increased by more than 66 percent

As a result of the economic crisis in Lebanon and the rapid depreciation of the national currency, the fuel problem has also grown.

Fuel prices in Lebanon increased by more than 66 percent

Ambulances that were left on the road due to running out of gasoline in their hebers coming from Lebanon, and giant organizations that had to close their stations because they did not have a fuel stock, bear the traces of the crisis in the country.

A HIGH IN FUEL PRODUCTS
In a written statement made by the Petroleum General Directorate of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy, it was stated that the price of fuel sold in the country was increased after the decision to reduce the support given for the import of fuel products.

It was stated in the statement that as of today, 95 octane 20-liter gasoline will be sold for 129 thousand Lebanese liras, while 20-liter diesel has increased to 101 thousand 500 liras.

COMMODITY PRICES ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE
This increase in fuel prices by more than 66 percent is expected to be reflected in the public transport tariffs in the country and the prices of basic commodities used in the production of fuel.

SOME HEALTH CENTERS AND OVENS ARE OUT OF SERVICE DUE TO THE FUEL STRICK
Due to the foreign exchange liquidity problem in Lebanon, there have been problems in supplying fuel for a while. Some health centers and bakeries were out of service because the electricity service provided by the state could not find 4 hours a day depending on fuel.

ARMED FIGHTS IN LONG TAILS
Events that turn into daily gunfights take place in the long queues in front of the gas stations.

FUEL CRISIS IN THE COUNTRY
In Lebanon, where the biggest economic crisis of the last 30 years was experienced, the state subsidized the daily consumption of approximately 12 million liters of fuel through the Central Bank.

The Central Bank had announced that foreign currency loans to be provided for fuel, to be implemented as of August 12, would be calculated over the free rate in the market instead of the official rate, and thus the fuel subsidy would be abolished.

Reacting to the Central Bank's decision, the Lebanese Presidency and Prime Ministry accused Central Bank Governor Riyadh Salame of "taking this decision alone, which would have dangerous consequences".
