The average price increase was between 5-10%, depending on the region.

The most significant price increase was recorded in the Ural Federal District (UFD), where scrap delivered by rail on a CPT basis increased by 10% to RUB 31,396 ($344.21) per tonne.

In the Southern Federal District (SFD), prices increased by 6.3% on the same basis to RUB 32,331 ($354.55) per tonne. In the Central Federal District (CFD), scrap sold for RUB 30,823 ($337.83) per tonne in April, up 5.2%. The lowest price increase was observed in the Siberian Federal District (SFD) - 29,033 rubles ($318) per tonne, which corresponds to an increase of 5.6% since the beginning of the year.

According to experts, the increase in ferrous scrap prices has a significant impact on the cost of the mix of materials used in the production of electrical steel, which is used to produce 30% of all metal in Russia, while the country's scrap market is estimated at 23 million tonnes per year.
