Feralpi builds a modern plant in Nave

Italian rebar producer Presider, part of Feralpi, has started production at its refurbished plant in Nave, located in the steelmaking region around Brescia, Northern Italy.

Feralpi builds a modern plant in Nave

Feralpi, a steel producer, has invested approximately €7 million ($7.5 million) to completely refurbish its Nave plant, formerly owned by the bankrupt former commercial profile producer Stefana. The former commercial section rolling mill was demolished to make room for new equipment that will shape Feralpi's rebar and assemble it into steel structures for the infrastructure sector. The Nave plant currently has a production capacity of 35,000 tonnes per year, with plans to double this capacity over the next two years. This expansion is in line with new projects funded by the post-pandemic European recovery fund and the national recovery plan PNRR.

In addition to the Nave plant, Feralpi also operates the Torino Borgaro Torinese plant, the Rome plant in Pomezia and its subsidiary in Saint-Soupplets Paris, France. The company aims to increase its sales in Northern Italy and France through the "Presider Luminaires" division, which Feralpi acquired when it acquired Presider in 2015.

As part of the renovation project, the Nave site now benefits from a photovoltaic park with a capacity of 1,200 MWh, exceeding its annual energy needs.

In May, Feralpi President Giuseppe Pasini indicated at the Made In Steel exhibition in Milan that there could be a revival in rebar demand in the second half of the year. Despite the decrease in demand for long products, which started in the fourth quarter of the previous year, Feralpi achieved a record turnover of €2.5 billion in 2022. The company's turnover was €1.9 billion in 2021 and €1.2 billion in 2020. According to rumours, Feralpi is considering a stock market listing and has sought advice from consulting firm Lazard in Paris.
