European heavy plate producers increased September prices

European heavy plate prices increase by €40-60/t for September

European heavy plate producers increased September prices

European heavy plate producers have raised prices by EUR 40-60/t for September deliveries, particularly in Germany and Italy, indicating tighter supply conditions. With a large portion of September production already sold, producers have gained stronger negotiating power.

In Germany, an order of approximately 250,000 tonnes for a US project has filled a significant portion of the capacity of two major producers through the end of 2026, further tightening spot availability. Negotiable prices in Germany are currently at EUR 820-850/t EXW, while offers are reported at EUR 850-880/t EXW.

In Northern Europe, heavy plate prices remain stable at EUR 820-850/t EXW, while prices in Italy are reported at EUR 690-700/t EXW. This keeps Italy more competitive compared with Northern Europe.

On the import side, Indonesian material is reported at EUR 770-790/t DDP in Spain, equivalent to approximately EUR 710/t CFR, while Indian-origin material has traded at around USD 720/t CFR in Northern Europe.

Overall, strong order books and limited spot availability are supporting heavy plate prices across Europe. However, competitive import prices remain an important factor that could limit further price increases by European producers.
