SteelRadar’s latest figures for this week, compiled from European Commission data, indicate that quota pressures are becoming evident in flat products, pipe products, and long products.
In the flat products segment, South Korea fully utilized its quota of 37,973 tons of 4A metallic coated sheets, while China reached its 4B metallic coated sheet quota of 129,758 tons. For organic coated sheets, South Korea used its full 72,527-ton quota, Taiwan fully consumed 23,244 tons, and Türkiye reached its 16,048-ton quota. In the same group, China also exhausted its 5,019-ton quota for stainless HR quarto plates.
Quota utilization for HRC has reached notable levels. India fully used its 304,720-ton HRC quota, while Türkiye filled its 479,925-ton HRC allocation.
In pipe products, China fully used its quotas of 39,196 tons of other seamless pipes and 7,148 tons of palplanches, while India reached its 6,004-ton stainless seamless pipe quota. Türkiye fully utilized its 15,246-ton wide-welded pipe quota, and North Macedonia reached 100% of its hollow profiles quota of 29,716 tons.
In the long products category, Türkiye completely used its quotas of 120,200 tons of wire rod, 96,390 tons of construction rebar, and 111,166 tons of commercial bars and light profiles.
The overall picture shows that, in the final quota period of the year, numerous products in the EU steel market have reached country-specific quota limits, indicating that shipping capacity could tighten further in the coming weeks.
