DP World Egypt completed largest metal slag shipment in Egypt

DP World Egypt, a subsidiary of the global port operator DP World headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, has completed the largest metal slag shipment processed in Egypt to date. The 289-meter-long vessel MV KEEPER successfully delivered 152,150 tons of metal slag at Ain Sokhna Port. This shipment, part of a commercial agreement totaling approximately 300,000 tons, represents a significant increase compared to previous volumes.

Mohammed Shihab, CEO of DP World Egypt, commented on the successful delivery:

“This record‑breaking shipment highlights DP World Egypt’s strategic role as a premier logistics and trade hub for both local and international businesses. The successful discharge of MV KEEPER is a direct result of our continued investment in Egypt’s trade infrastructure, through our multi‑purpose terminal, integrated end‑to‑end logistics solutions, and the operational excellence of our team. It reinforces our commitment to supporting Egypt’s key industrial sectors and showcases the country's growing capacity to meet global commerce demands, supported by DP World's world‑class logistics capabilities.”

This operation follows other recent milestones at Ain Sokhna Port. The port recently welcomed the Berge Kuju, a 300-meter dry bulk vessel from Brazil carrying 180,008 tons of iron ore destined for Ezz Steel. This marked the largest iron ore shipment ever recorded at an Egyptian port. The delivery is part of a long-term strategic agreement and supports an annual iron ore handling capacity of over 6 million tons at Sokhna.
