This week, activity has resumed in Türkiye's imported scrap market. Slight price increases have been observed in the latest imported scrap purchases from the U.S. and Europe. While some market analysts believe that these prices were set to test the market and that there is still a possibility of a decline to the $320-325 levels, others agree that prices will remain stable throughout January. Despite limited demand in the import market and sluggish exports, demand continues for certain regions.
According to information received by SteelRadar, a deal was made between a seller in the U.S. and a steel plant in the Marmara region, setting the price for HMS 80:20 scrap at $336/t CFR Türkiye. It was also reported that the same plant reached an agreement for scrap from Europe at an average price of $337/t CFR Türkiye.
In another deal with a steel producer in the Aegean region, HMS 80:20 scrap from the U.S. was priced at $337/t, while shredded and bonus scrap were agreed upon at $355/t CFR Türkiye. Another steel producer in the Aegean region secured HMS 80:20 scrap from France at a price of $331/t CFR Türkiye.
