Crude steel production in Italy increased by 4.4% in September

Italian steel federation Federacciai reported that September was a positive month for crude steel production in Italy, with total output reaching 1.956 million tonnes, up 4.4% compared to the same month in 2022.

In the first nine months, total crude steel production was 15.973 million tonnes, down 3.1% y-o-y.

Considering flat and long product segments, long product production in Italy in September this year was 1.102 million tonnes, down 6.7% y-o-y, while flat product production in the same month was 827 thousand tonnes, up 14.4% y-o-y. In January-September period, long product production decreased by 3.8% y-o-y to 8.814 million tonnes and flat product production decreased by 2.7% y-o-y to 7.159 million tonnes.
