According to information reported by maritime security consultancy Marisks, the crude oil tanker Sidr, operated by Saudi Arabia-based Bahri, was struck while sailing northeast of Khasab, Oman.
A second tanker, Senegal Prosperity, was also attacked while sailing in the same area. The vessel, operated by Sinokor, was reportedly hit by three projectiles. Marisks said both tankers had been sailing out of the Persian Gulf.
Tanker operators have yet to comment
Bahri and Sinokor have not yet issued official statements regarding the attacks.
Meanwhile, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) previously reported that a tanker that had completed its transit out of the Strait of Hormuz was struck by three unidentified objects. The agency did not disclose the name of the vessel.
The recent increase in attacks and security incidents involving commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz is raising concerns over maritime transportation in the region, which is one of the world's most important energy transit routes.
