After a sluggish period, prices in Italy, especially for galvanized steel, started to move.
Galvanized sheet and cold rolled coil producers in Italy have taken ArcelorMittal's offers as a basis. Accordingly, the base delivery prices are between €980-990/ton ($1,055-1,065). Contract prices have increased to €950-960/t, but mills plan to push the level up to €980-990/tonne ($1,055-1,065) to consolidate prices.
The current coil shortage continues in the second quarter due to the production difficulties of Acciaierie d'Italia, the interruption of Tata Steel, the lack of import offers from Turkey and uncompetitive Asian prices.
