Similarly, the municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau of Handan, another major steelmaking centre in northern China, has announced its intention to implement level 2 emergency response from Friday.
As part of these emergency measures, local steel producers are expected to reduce their overall production.
The duration of these pollution control measures in both cities remains unclear at this time.
