In October, stainless steel imports to China increased by 22.8% month-on-month to 284.2 thousand tons. However, there was a year-on-year decline, down 8.59%. In the same period, stainless steel exports from China decreased by 1.91% compared to the previous month and amounted to 336.5 thousand tons. On an annual basis, there was an increase of 13.76%.
In the January-October period, stainless steel imports decreased by 39.42% compared to last year, while stainless steel exports decreased by 8.39%. Imports amounted to 1.67 million tons and exports to 3.4445 million tons.
In October, the import volume of stainless steel scrap to China reached 37.3 thousand tons, up 68.88% from last month. On an annual basis, there was an increase of 252.73%. In the first nine months of 2023, stainless steel scrap import volume reached 280.6 thousand tons, up 299.53% compared to 2022.
