China's daily crude steel production fell 6.1 percent month on month to 2.3 million tons in October, the lowest level since December 2017, according to Reuters calculations based on data released by the statistics bureau on Monday.
For this month, the world's largest steelmaker produced 71.58 million tons of metal, down for the fifth month in a row, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). It decreased by 23.3% compared to the same month of the previous year.
China's monthly steel production has been falling since July, after seeing double-digit growth in the first half of the year. The imposition of strict output controls and restrictions on power use has negatively impacted both supply and demand.
