Based on the data, China Baowu Group succeeded in maintaining its top position in the global ranking with its crude steel production in 2025. The company, which ranked first worldwide in the previous year, continued its leadership in 2025 and retained its title as the world’s largest steel producer.
The published data shows that China Baowu Group’s crude steel production, which stood at 130.09 million tons in 2024, decreased by 4.1% in 2025, falling to 124.76 million tons. Despite this decline in production volume, the company maintained a clear dominant leadership position in the global market.
The World Steel Association list also highlights the new market dynamics faced by China’s steel sector. In particular, the structural slowdown in China’s real estate sector, weakening domestic infrastructure demand, and capacity control policies were identified as key factors behind the planned decrease in the giant producer’s performance.
The 2025 data indicates that China Baowu Group has preserved its global competitiveness despite the decline in production volume. It was noted that the company has kept its export channels active to offset the contraction in the domestic market and has supported its operational performance with high-strength product groups.
