According to the report, Brazil exported about 3.71 million tons of pig iron in 2022, an increase of 14% compared to the previous year. The United States was the largest buyer with 65%, followed by the Netherlands with 10% and Turkey with 6%.
In December 2022, Brazil exported a total of about 305,000 tons of pig iron, down by 39% from the same month in 2021. Its main exporters were the USA with about 220,000 tons, the UAE with 33,600 tons and Mexico with 30,300 tons.
