China's leading steelmaker Baoshan Iron and Steel (Baosteel) and automaker Beijing Mercedes Benz signed a cooperation agreement to supply green steel.
Baosteel became the first steel company in China to provide products with a lower carbon footprint for automobile businesses.
In September, Baosteel launched three types of ultra-low carbon auto steel, said to reduce carbon emissions by more than 50%.
The steelmaker is also building a zero-carbon automotive steel plate production line in southern China's Zhanjiang, which will have about 90% lower carbon emissions than blast furnace steel production.
