The cyclone in the northwest of Australia had a negative impact on the country's iron ore and pellet exports. In April this year, the country's iron ore and pellet exports decreased by 10% to 63.6 million tons.
Sluggish market demand and the annual maintenance and repair of Chinese steel mills led to a decrease in the country's iron ore exports to China. Australia's iron ore exports to China decreased by 12% to 52.77 million tons.
Australia's iron ore imports from Japan decreased by 16% on a monthly basis to 3.9 million tons, while iron ore imports from South Korea increased by 23% to 3.93 million tons.
