ArcelorMittal's steel plant in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Mexico, had put its new hot strip plant into operation for a year. Thus, the company produced its first millionth ton coil of stainless steel.
The company uses direct reduced iron as the main steelmaking raw material to ensure that the logs have a uniform structure to achieve extremely high quality. Liquid steel capacity is known as 5.3 million tons and slab capacity as 3.8 million tons.
The hot strip plant became operational last year. ArcelorMittal received a €235 million loan in December 2018 for its construction, which will be paid out over 8.5 years.
