In the six months of this year, the production volume of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih increased by 7% compared to the same period last year. The start of 2021 was not easy for the mining and metallurgical industry, as freight transport and raw material prices increased significantly. In addition, the company, which reoriented its sales due to the increase in import tax rates, shifted traditional markets such as Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia to Latin America and China. However, thanks to the operation of all four blast furnaces and the increased efficiency of the sinter workshop No. 2, one of the main objectives of the eco-modernization investment program, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih's production indicators have increased.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Deputy General Manager Metallurgical Production Sergey Lavrinenko:
This year we completed the overhaul of the blast furnace No. 8, which was closed in the second half of 2020, and modernized the fifth sinter machine in the sinter workshop No. 2 - this helped us to increase our production of pig iron and Steel. We also managed to increase the coke production volume by 11.5%. For the first time in the last 6 years, we have produced 61 thousand tons of monthly production and 31 thousand tons of fine wire at the rolling mill number 6. In the second half of this year, we will complete the reconstruction of the last sixth sintering machine in the second sinter workshop, which will bring it to the maximum production level with minimum pollutant emissions. We expect good production results in the second half of the year, with a production increase of 6-7% according to the operating results for the whole of 2021. ' he said.
