In the fourth quarter, the company's total revenue amounted to C$677.4 million, showing a decrease of 28.07% compared to the previous year. Furthermore, Algoma Steel incurred a net loss of C$20.4 million for the quarter, in contrast to a net income of C$242.9 million in the same period of the previous year.

Moving on to the full fiscal year of 2022-23, the company's consolidated revenue reached C$2,778.5 million, indicating a 27% decline compared to the previous year. Similarly, Algoma Steel's net income for the fiscal year was approximately C$298.5 million, down from C$857.7 million in the previous year.

The CEO of Algoma Steel stated that the fourth quarter of 2023 met expectations and aligned with the previously communicated outlook. Following a period of fluctuating commodity prices and operational improvements, the plate and strip operations have returned to normal production levels during the quarter. This positive trend is anticipated to continue into the fiscal year of 2024.
