Algeria and Qatar strengthen cooperation through the Bellara Steel project

Algerian Minister of Industry Sifi Ghrib received a Qatari delegation led by Khalid Al-Obaidli, Chairman of Qatar Steel International, to review the joint steel project in Bellara. The meeting highlighted the success of the industrial partnership and explored new investment opportunities, particularly in the mining sector. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to boosting industrial production and creating quality employment through continued cooperation.

Following discussions between Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Algerian Minister of Industry Sifi Ghrib welcomed a high-level Qatari delegation representing the Algerian Qatari Steel Company.

The delegation was headed by Khalid Al-Obaidli, Chairman of Qatar Steel International and main shareholder of the Bellara Steel Project. During the meeting, the current state of industrial cooperation between the two countries was reviewed, and future steps were discussed.

The success of the Bellara project, located in the Jijel region, was once again emphasized as a model of joint Arab cooperation in the heavy industry sector.

New investment prospects, particularly in the mining sector, were also discussed. These investments are expected to enhance industrial output, diversify the economy, and generate employment. The Algerian Qatari Steel Company reaffirmed its continued support for Algeria’s industrial development and its goal of becoming a regional industrial hub.
