Alcoa's Western Australia Plants Receive ASI Certification

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Alcoa Corporation announced that its Western Australia portfolio has been approved by the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI).

Alcoa's Western Australia Plants Receive ASI Certification

The portfolio consists of bauxite mines and alumina refineries in the region. The certification follows the successful completion of a comprehensive third-party audit at the Huntly and Willowdale bauxite mines and the Kwinana, Pinjarra and Wagerup alumina refineries. With this, Alcoa now has a total of nine locations spread across four different countries, all of which are certified to ASI's Performance Standard.

Michelle O'Neill, Alcoa's Executive Vice President and General Manager External Affairs, said the certification signifies the company's strong commitment to responsible and sustainable manufacturing and its determination to deliver long-term value to its shareholders. She added that the commitment to move forward in sustainability has been a strategic priority for the company over these years.

Meanwhile, ASI Chief Executive Fiona Solomon congratulated Alcoa on their latest certification for their Western Australian operations.

Alcoa recently reported a net loss of $1.125 billion, or $6.07 per share, for the full year 2019.
