Al Yamamah Steel signed USD 33.6 million deal for Yanbu wind project

Al Yamamah Steel has signed a SAR 126 million (USD 33.6 million) agreement with SEPCO3 to supply wind turbine towers for the 700 MW Yanbu wind energy project.

Saudi Arabia-based Al Yamamah Steel Industries Co. has signed a significant agreement for the wind energy project to be developed in Yanbu. The company entered into a contract with SEPCO3 Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. to supply wind turbine towers, valued at approximately SAR 126 million (USD 33.6 million).

Located in the Madinah region, the project stands out as a key component of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which aims to diversify the country’s energy mix and promote sustainable power generation.

With a total installed capacity of 700 MW, the facility is among the notable renewable energy investments in the region. The total project investment is expected to exceed SAR 1.7 billion (USD 453 million). The agreement also targets a localization rate of over 80% in wind turbine tower production.

The contract, signed under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, is expected to enhance local content in the renewable energy sector, strengthen supply chains, and contribute to the Kingdom’s localization goals for 2030.

Al Yamamah Steel Industries Co. emphasized its continued commitment to supporting the development of Saudi Arabia’s clean energy infrastructure through its expertise in high-quality steel manufacturing. The Yanbu Wind Power Plant is considered an important milestone in advancing the country’s sustainability goals and its transition to renewable energy in line with Vision 2030.
