After the earthquake disaster in Turkey, scientists from ITU prepared a preliminary report on the necessity of modular steel systems

The benefits of modular steel systems were mentioned in the report prepared by scientists from ITU who specialize in engineering and architecture. In the report, which was evaluated before and after the earthquake in the disaster area, "Regulations that have not received engineering services such as zoning amnesty and zoning peace, which are not based on scientific basis, that legalize unhealthy and unsafe building stock should be ended, natural thresholds should be taken as a basis in the reconstruction process, and in the new planning process. Constructions should not be allowed in these areas, except for cultural assets.

In the report, in the reconstruction process initiated in the damaged areas after the earthquake, the buildings to be newly constructed; It was emphasized that the carrier systems formed with tunnel formwork, prefabricated reinforced concrete houses and modular steel system should be evaluated together by considering other conditions, especially ground conditions.

Also in the report, where it was mentioned that the superstructures were affected as well as the infrastructures were damaged in the earthquake, it was underlined that acute problems could be experienced in the water supply and removal of waste water, especially with the damage of the network and sewerage pipelines. For this reason, the report pointed out that the risk of infectious diseases that are in danger of being transmitted through water after the disaster also increased, and it was stated that it is vital to take technical measures related to the provision of safe water in order to prevent water-borne epidemics.
